Cape Cod Cont.

One rainy day my parents took Tyler to the mall to ride the carousel. He LOVED it as you can tell by his smile. He rode it with my dad and then again with my mom. As it was slowing down after riding with my mom he said "Sarah (my sister) wants a turn now?" We decided twice was enough.
This is what Bryce did while Tyler had fun on the carousel. Next year buddy...
I was really excited to take Tyler to catch crabs at the creek at low tide because it was one of my favorite things to do as a kid.
I caught one right away.

Giant Cape Cod Post!

This past week we all got a much needed vacation on Cape Cod with my family. This is a very long post because I just couldn't narrow down all the great pictures and fun things we got to do. We all had a great time. Cape Cod has always been one of my favorite places since I was a little kid and it was fun being able to share it with Tyler now that he's getting older and can enjoy it more. Above is a picture of the creek in our neighborhood at sunset. The creek has always been my "happy place."
This is my cousin James digging a hole with Tyler at the beach. We had a handful of really good beach days. Tyler loved playing with James who was such a good sport about playing cars, digging holes, and flying a kite with Tyler. I'm sure Tyler misses him now.
Our first day at the beach Tyler was hesitant about entering the water with my mom. He just stood at the edge and stared at it for a long time. Then very seriously he said to my mom "We need a boat." On our last day there my Aunt Terry took her kayak down for Tyler to sit in on the beach so he finally got his "boat."
Bryce got lots of love and attention too. Bryce loves to fall asleep on your chest and there were plenty of people around willing to let him sleep on their chest. He's fighting me now on sleeping in a crib again for naps.

Bryce is 4 weeks old!

I can't believe how fast a month flies by. This was a good shot we got of Bryce on Sunday night for his one month photo shoot. He's still proven to be a really good baby. He calms easily, has more patience than Tyler did at the same age, and puts up with a lot of noise. We're working on training him earlier to put himself to sleep (something we failed at as parents with Tyler until late in the game). Although he's not perfect at it yet, I'm hopeful that he'll be a better sleeper at an earlier age. This will make my life a lot easier.
Tyler had a jealous moment during Bryce's photo shoot and kept yelling from the kitchen - Don't take his picture! I had to take a few shots of Tyler too to appease him. Notice the huge tear falling down his cheek in this one. Its hard not to always be the center of attention anymore.

Fun with Water!

We are now proud owners of a pool! I'd been wanting to get a little blow up pool for Tyler for the summer and we decided to opt for the bigger size so Andy and I can join in on the fun. Tyler LOVES his pool and doesn't mind that hose water is freezing until you let it warm in the sun for a few hours.

This was shot last weekend out our back window. There was some kind of "leak" in a sprinkler line and we had a small gyser in the field behind our house for over an hour. Cars kept driving on the road next to it to get a free car wash. The city showed up eventually and shut it down, but it was a small piece of excitement in Spanish Fork for a little while.

Tummy Time

I love this picture. The eyes say it all.

Bryce is much more tolerant of "tummy time" than Tyler was. He's pretty content to lay on his tummy for awhile and Tyler always takes advantage of this time to "entertain" Bryce. Tyler loves to lay next to him and talk to him and show him toys. He gets a little rough or too "in his face" sometimes, but usually he's pretty soft.
I think if Bryce could he'd be laughing at Tyler. I'm sure in the near future he will. But he definitely likes to watch Tyler for now and is learning to put up with his 2 year old roughness.

First Bath

Bryce got his first bath on Tuesday night. Needless to say he did not like it.
Tyler wanted to help and splashed in the bath water the whole time. Luckily giving him his first bottle later on that evening went much smoother - looks like I will be able to get out of the house on my own in the near future.

Thank You Nana

My mother ("Nana") was with us for the first 10 days after I got out of the hospital and we were so glad to have her. Tyler especially loved having the one on one attention when I wasn't able to give it to him. I know its hard for my mom to have 2 grandsons now far away so I was glad she got to spend so much time with us. She left last Saturday afternoon and I was hit hard with the reality of having two kids at home all by myself. On the way home from my uncle's in Bountiful Tyler got car sick and threw up all over himself. Andy was planning on seeing Transformers with his brother at 8:15 that night. He drops me off at 8:00 with both kids, one of which desperately needs a bath and all the throw up laundry and messy car seat. We hadn't turn on the AC while we were gone and the house was also extremely hot. Thirty minutes later I sent Andy the following text: An 85 degree house, a screaming infant, a singing naked toddler, and a whole mess of laundry with throw up all over it - YOU OWE ME. Anyway, I'm grateful my mother could help us through this transition - Thank you Nana.
