My First Fishing Trip

As told by Tyler Ferguson in his own words


Once a buton a time we were fishing with Bryce and Mom and Dad.and we caught a dead fish and it was red, and then we caught the black little fish and then "Fashsh!!" *splashing sounds* - we caught a big fish and then the man cut it up and washed it with his hoses and then we left and got some ice and then dad gave the fish some ice and then we went back home and then later we were gonna eat it and when I was done eating my corn I was going to eat my fish. The End.




(Julia's comments) This big fish was actually the biggest catch of the day at the Fish hatchery - 4 1/2 lbs. It snapped our line but then Andy was able to scoop it up with the net. This video is classic Tyler: his reaction to the big fish.

My Bountiful Baskets Plug

A friend of mine in Spanish Fork first told me about Bountiful Baskets sometime last fall but for some reason I didn't look into it then. Then a few of my sister-in-laws started to try it in Idaho and here in Utah County recently so I knew I needed to look into it. I did my first pick up last Saturday and I think I'm hooked now. I got all of the produce shown above for $15! Its really good quality too. Its an all volunteer food co-op. You order your basket between Monday night and Tuesday night and pay for it online then find your closest pick up location and pick it up Saturday morning. Just bring a laundry basket to dump it all in. Everyweek its a different assortment of 50% fruits and 50% vegetables. This week I got : 1 bunch bananas, 2 pineapples, 9 peaches, 2 mangos, 7 limes, 1 bag of grapes, 17 plums, 5 lb bag of potatoes, 2 butternut squash, 12 oz. of cherry tomatoes, 1 head of romaine lettuce, 1 head of cauliflower and 1 package of white asparagus. They also run weekly specials like 24 lbs of peaches for $10 or large quantities of blueberries for a good price. Just go to bountifulbaskets.org to check it out. They have pickups across Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, and Washington for all of my out of state friends!

Happy Birthday Andy!

Andy celebrated his 29th birthday this past Friday. He ended up going on a campout with the 11 year old scouts in our ward, but said he had a good time. We went out to dinner on Saturday instead. Tyler helped me make his cake this year. The decorations were all his idea. A red t-rex, a castle, and the small blob on top of the t-rex is a volcano Tyler made all by himself. Tyler gets really excited for birthdays and especially birthday cakes. He was so patient waiting until Andy got home from his campout to eat the cake. At one point he said "I don't think Dad's coming - maybe I could blow out the candle and eat the cake?" I love the manipulation tactics of a 3 year old.

My Imaginitive Tyler

A few Sundays ago we found Tyler like this in his room after we thought he'd fallen asleep for a nap. I'd left the tub of Aquafor in his room and he decided to "paint" with it all over his mirror. Then he said his face got itchy. So he smeared mass quantities of it all over his face, neck, ears, hair, arms, and shirt. I had to wash his hair 4 times to get it all out. He was a little extra moisturized that day.

I love this picture. Tyler looks like such a little farm boy here with his plaid shirt and work gloves. He loves to help me in the garden.

Funny Man Bryce

I love this age. Bryce is my little funny man lately. I really think he's going to have a great sense of humor when he's older. He thinks everythings hilarious. He loves wearing glasses and funny hats too. I often find him playing in the family room with one of Tyler's hats on his head, such as his union soldier hat, fireman hat, or as seen below Andy's tennis hat.
He's also exerting his independence by wanting to eat whatever everyone else is eating and in the same way everyone else is eating it. He wants it in a bowl with a fork. It makes for some messy meal times, but its good practice.

He's also becoming quite the climber and can now climb the entire staircase. If we don't close the basement door he's off like a rocket to climb up the stairs.

July 4th Weekend

We had a really fun 3 day weekend. This is kind of a long post but here are some highlights from our weekend. My mom bought Bryce this hat that says "Future Mr. President" while she was in Washington D.C. I thought Independence Day would be an appropriate day to wear it. If presidents were chosen on cuteness, Bryce would definitely have a shot.
Tyler helped me in the yard a lot on Saturday. I really like doing yard work and working in the garden. Tyler's learning a lot about "being nice" to the plants too. He's always very careful and says he's feeding the plants by giving each one a shovel full of dirt near the base. We planted tomatoes, squash, zuccini, green peppers, strawberries, and a pumpkin plant thats getting huge!
Saturday night we had a BBQ with Andy's siblings and the cousins. It was fun to have the kids run around in the sprinkler.
Shelly made rootbeer floats for dessert. Bryce got a hold of Ben's when we weren't looking and decided that not only did it taste good, it would make a good lotion for his legs. Its hard to tell in the photo but he'd smeared it all over his legs.
The kids loved it when the jets flew over the house really low in formation at the start of the Stadium of Fire show, another great July 4th tradition. Andy and I brought the boys out in the road after everyone left to watch the fireworks at the Stadium. Tyler had lots of questions about how fireworks work, and Bryce kept pointing and saying "ooo!"
On Monday morning, Shelly and I ran the Freedom Run 10K. I hadn't run it since Tyler was a baby. I've been really proud of myself for getting back in shape and wanted to run in some races this summer. Shelly just had a baby two months ago but ran it too and still finished ahead of me! I pushed myself more on the last 3 miles and tried to stay between a 8:30 and 9 min mile pace which is really good for me. I'm excited to run another one soon.

Monday night we had some friends over for dinner too and took the kids over to our favorite spot in Stonegate near the Provo river where they love to throw rocks in. Even Bryce can throw the little rocks too (when he's not trying to eat them). He puts both hands up above his head and with a look of real intensity yells "Da!" and throws his rock. Its really cute.
